Veteran's Day

They are liberators and they are enforcers.
They are warriors and they are peacekeepers.
They are attackers and they are defenders.
They are young and old. Men and women.
Sons and daughters. Parents and grandparents.
Some are with us, others are memories.
They are all heroes.

It feels like veterans are for history books and black and white videos. They exist in a different time worlds away from our lives. And yet, they do not. Rarely in our lives do men and women demonstrate such courage and ask for so little in return. Maybe that is why they are so easy to forget. That is why they are so important to remember.

So we say thanks where no words will truly suffice.
We try to imagine an experience we could never really visualize.
We promise to remember them- those that ask for nothing in return.

To our friends and family,

Have a memory-filled Veteran's Day.

Matt

Matt, Grandpa was so thrilled that you thought of him on this memorable day. He is one of the last to remember world War II and how it effected his entire life. It was suppose to be the War that ended all other wars but this was not to be. When I see his pictures I can' believe how young he was. He saw a great deal of action but was one of the lucky ones that returned home. We are, indeed grateful for his safe return but we feel the pain of the families that weren't so lucky. Yes, Matt war is hell and no one should have to make the sacrifices that these young men did and are still doing.Thank you so much, Our love always, Gram & Grampa xxxxxxxxx

Thanks Matt for your very poignant thoughts concerning Veterans Day. I agree with everything that you have said. I am so proud of my Dad for what he has done for this country. I am glad that you recognize the importance of the sacrifices that the veterans have made for this country. Thanks for posting. Love, Mom

That was incredibly well-written...I seriously think you should submit that to something.
