the blog

I've been thinking there's not much action on the blog anymore. Since around January everybody pretty much stopped. So what I'd like is for everybody to start making posts again about family categories.

I'm glad somebody finally said something about this, I'm just worried nobody will see it because it's on the blog...

Jake- maybe you should post about what you have been doing this summer?

I don't think it's been too bad...we just need to get a wider variety of people making entries! How can we entice them, Jake? And what family categories are you talking about?

I really like your straight-forward post, JK, especially the subject. You really know how to cut to the chase - I think we all appreciate your no-nonsense approach. Your insights make you wise beyond your years, Manchild. However, I think more people check the blog than we regulars realize. I think a lot of people read and enjoy the new posts but do not necessarily comment, which is ok. Sometimes even I get lazy about commenting (like on the last 2 posts - Sorry Lizzy and Matt)! So rest-assured fellow SLEW members, even if your post only draws a few comments, there are probably others like me who are still checking the blog daily as they click through their favorites and avoid other tasks. Updates to the blog are ALWAYS delightful and very much appreciated! I frequently remind my immediate family members to check the blog, and each of you can do the same. It is especially effective to give your loved ones a gentle reminder to check the blog when there is something posted that you think they wouldn't want to miss! It is also effective to create a shortcut link on the desktop of their computer.

P.S. - I call Jakey "JK" - I wasn't abbreviating 'just kidding' in case you were wondering.

Do we really want to know what Jake has been doing all summer, Matt?

Jake, I think it's nice that you have taken this into your account to motivate everyone on this blog. Keep it up, and I will definitely be posting soon considering my first days of high school and volleyball and tennis tryouts are right around the corner!

Sara's right, there are a lot of family members that look at the post, and even the comments, but do not comment or post themselves, silent bloggers, as I like to refer to them.

Lizzy, good luck at your volleyball and tennis tryouts!! Do the tryouts take place at Stevenson prior to the school year starting? I remember my summer before freshman year of high school when something posessed me to try out for the girls field hockey team. That week was probably one of the most physically painful weeks of my life! They made us run around the field A LOT, which I was in no shape to do, along with other calesthenics (is that the word?) I remember being so sore that it hurt to sit down on a toilet! I know you are in far better shape than me (then and now), so I have no doubts that you will perform well at the tryouts. Good luck!

Got to hand it to Jake for getting a reaction out of us! I see management potential in his future :) Anyway, I think we are all a lot more busy in the summer than in the winter when we are couped up at home. That's a good thing! Before you know it its over. Can anyone believe its July 25th?! As for me, we are four weeks out from the wedding and the c-slaws/langermans are in WEDDING MODE bigtime. I think if it weren't for the insurance thing, we could have made a very successful business out of wedding planning. Can't wait for the big day and for all of us to be together.

Love, Jess

As far as silent bloggers go - I am guilty! I have the site on my favorites and click on it almost daily to see if there are updates. I'll make sure to write a post soon! Thanks for the motivation, Jake!

I am a regular for commenting. I do that so that people know that I am here. I don't post so much as it seems like a hassle, but it really isn't. Furthermore, I don't really have anything worth posting in my life these days. When and if our bill gets passed, I will post it. That I can promise. BTW, make sure you people who are 18 and over get your letters and calls in to Senator Durbin and other reps. Thanks!!!!

Well, Jake. I'm very proud of you. You really got everyone to notice and I'm sure in the future we'll all blog more. Liz. I'm waiting for the pictures of your trip to Atlanta. Kim,I'd like to hear more about your roommate, your apartment and your overall feeling of St. Louis. Sara. I heard that you're in a dance (exercise) program. Enjoying it? I'm sure that everyone has something to share....Just keep Gramps and me posted. We like being in "the loop" ..........xxxxxxxxxxxxx
