Paige's Bat Mitzvah Weekend

I hope everyone had a great time this weekend. I know I had a great time "getting low" on the dance floor (those dancing with me will know what that means). I'd like to hear any other stories or other people's favorite things about the trip.

First off, "getting low" has caused me some serious quad pain! Walking down stairs and sitting down on the toilet were a little painful yesterday. (Did I overshare?!?) Let's see... my favorite things about the trip... I LOVED spending time with everyone, and it's great to spend time with the Lincenbergs on their turf. The polka dot theme was fabulous! Paige looked so grown up. I can't believe all my baby cousins are growing up!!! Of course dancing is one of the highlights for me. I was telling Grandma that I think our family has a high amount of dancing talent. Wouldn't you agree? Now the countdown begins to Camp Slaw! I can't wait for CS 2008! Less than 4 months away! And I'll be seeing some of you for Passover in less than 3 weeks. That reminds me of another highlight of Paige's Bat Mitzvah weekend -- good food! The Friday night dinner, the Saturday luncheon, the dinner Saturday night, and the brunch on Sunday were all delicious! Now if only we could get them to serve airplane food again!!

I know this says Darren, but its really me Jess.

Anyway...Sara, I totally feel ya with the quad pain. I'm still sore! But it was well worth it. I agreee with you about the abundance of dance talent. Can't wait to see the video. I'm thinking we really need to insert a dance portion into the fesivities at CS this year.

Back to the weekend. Darren and I had such such a blast. Paige did fantastic and it was so good to see how she has blossomed into such a mature young lady! Oh my gosh-i sound really old now. Must stop.

Well,Thanks again to Julie, Shel and all of their friends for making us feel so welcome and at home in the ATL.

Love, Jess

Correction: Passover is less than 2 weeks away. (Technically, it is also less than 3 weeks away).

What more could any grandparents want then to see all of their children and grandchildren together
having such a wonderful time. Needless to say, Joan and Craig were with us in spirit and we all understand and hope he'll feel a little better each and every day. We really didn't have a favorite thing. We loved ALL of it even if we didn't "get low". Grampa and I are truly blessed with all the love that we receive from Youall"
We look forward to all the simchas in the future. Love youse, xxxxxxx P.S. Thanks for the dance, Matt...

I found the week-end jam packed with all sorts of stuff. Was there a down minute? I don't think so! There was the spiritual (services) side of the week-end which I found uplifting. I thought Paige was fabulous in her torah and haftorah reading. She did it so fast that it made the service just breeze by! Then there was the celebration side of the week-end. The party was really fun. Of course I loved visiting with everyone. I especially liked spending time with Julie's old friends. It was good to catch up with them. Then I loved seeing the "young" people dance up a storm. I can still remember Matt when he wasn't quite into it. Those days appear to be well behind him now! I didn't "get low" but I did enjoy my traditional Hora dance with Julie. A small note, we should have had a polka dance too! And the food. Let me just say that it was fantastic. The scale confirms it. Julie's friends who provided lots of the food, were amazing. With friends like that, who needs family? (just kidding!!) There were some health and hotel challenges, but we made the best of it. All in all, a memorable week-end. It is wonderful to be together to celebrate a happy event. Big thanks to Julie, Shel and Paige!

I can't believe the Bat Mitzvah was already one week ago! Paige, have you forgotten any of your Hebrew yet?

Atlanta highlights for me include foggy mornings, flying solo on MARTA, briscuit chowdown in the Sienna, bunking with Mathias, pouring lemonade cocktails in the hospitality suite, giving up my Mentos, meeting Zach Attack, seeing Paige with silky straight hair, cinnamon ice cream, Paige's slideshow, getting magnetized with Grandma, and having my family make me look good in pictures and on the dance floor.

I had the good fortune of continuing my trip on to sunny Florida to see my old college friend Todd who lives in Sarasota. Highlights from there include 54 holes of golf (scores of 101, 99 and 97), two servings of grouper, 80-degree temps, road trips to Naples and Fort Myers Beach, virgin pina coladas, and great conversations with Todd.

The return flight to Des Moines and being back in reality have been a rude awakening to say the least. At least I can reminisce about Georgia by watching The Masters this weekend.

I had lots of fun! Everyone looked especially good in their polka dot attire and it's always nice seeing everyone! My favorite part was definitely the dancing...but i didn't really "get low" cause my dress was too short for that.

bj... it is kinda crazy because i had lots of friends in Sarasota AND Fort Myers Beach probably at the same time you were there...maybe you bumped into them and you wouldn't even have known it!

I just got back from my spring break trip to Ft.Walton beach in Florida and i had an amazing time! And i got a nice tan :)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone for camp slaw! Have a wonderful passover!

We were thrilled having y'all come on down to Atlanta for Paige's special weekend. All in all everything went as planned except ofcourse the weather. I wanted you to enjoy our beautiful spring weather, but you got some nasty rain instead and all those flight delays! Thank you all for joining us with such enthusiasm as usual. Ofcourse we are sorry that Joan and Craig were not there, as soon as we get the video we'll pass it on! Paige spent the 4 days after her Bat-Mitzvah in Washington Dc, Jamie went to the beach, Devin went back to Ann Arbor, Kim went to St. Louis for an interview and then back to Athens, and Shel and I went to a practice round at the masters! So we are very proud of Paige, and glad you were there to share with us, thats what its all about. So now that we are all recovering from our big weekend, on to Passover!!! Julie

i CAN NOT believe that the bat-mitzvah was last weekend. Things have been so crazy for me since then...
I had an incredible time with all of you! As always, family time is my favorite time. Thank you for all of the nice things you said to me about Zack...he REALLY enjoyed meeting all of you!
As my mom said, immediately after the weekend I flew to St. Louis for an interview (my first stay in a hotel by myself!)...I think it went really well! Since I have heard that I am on the alternate lists at Medical College of Georgia and at Emory, which is pretty good news. Also, Zack's fraternity had a HUGE party this past weekend (I was at their house for the majority of Wed-Sat night)...so I've had quite the week!
I miss you all already (note the absence of y'all in that statement...ahem)!!!
I'm going to Zack's house in Augusta for passover saturday night and then home for Sunday...and I am looking forward to all that is to come!
I LOVE YOU!
~Kim
